SECURITY INDUSTRY AUTHORITY & APPROVED CONTRACTOR SCHEME

The Private Security Industry Act 2001 saw the instigation of the SIA and licensing for all security guards provided by external companies. Their goal is to help protect society by developing and achieving high standards within the private security industry. The SIA have two main duties - one, the compulsory licensing of individuals working in specific sectors of the private security industry and the other is to manage the Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private security companies against a set of independently assessed criteria.
